by Jacob Layton

Big shoutout to the Burros for having me on their ride! No, the route cannot be shared, please don't ask, it's not my route to share. But using apps and GPS tools makes it easy to plan your own adventure!

- What’s happening, everybody? Nick Olson, Chupacabra Offroad, back in the desert in Arizona with the Burroughs—awesome group that invites me on all their amazing rides.
-
Big 3-day ride:
- Day 1: Havasu → Wayside → Wickenburg
- Day 2: Wickenburg → Crown King → Back to Wickenburg
- Day 3: Wickenburg → Havasu (Return Trip)
- Last time he did this route, he was in a Can-Am X3, but now running the Pro R.
- Testing different suspension modes and fuel consumption.
- Group size: ~15 UTVs, including Mavericks, X3s, Speed, Turbo S’s, and other Pro R’s.
- Just stopped briefly to shed a layer, grab water, and keep moving.

(5:07) – First Major Stop: Wayside (80 miles in)
-
Current fuel status:
- Put 3 extra gallons in a bit earlier.
- RZR took 7 more gallons at this stop.
- Fuel mileage is better than expected.
- Testing suspension settings and planning an in-depth review video soon.
- Weather: Perfect, with a little bit of a breeze.
-
Trail conditions:
- Very dusty (no rain for a while in Arizona).
(6:07) – Morning of Day 2: Wickenburg → Crown King
- Weather: Surprisingly not that cold.
-
Ride Details:
- 117-mile round trip to Crown King and back.
- Avoiding a previously super technical section that was “spicy” last time.
-
Pro R Performance:
- Perfect for these long-distance adventure rides.
(7:16)
- [More drone and riding clips]
(10:55) – Lunch Stop: Crown King
- Enjoying a burger lunch in the cool mountain breeze.
- Monday ride = Less traffic (weekends are much busier).
-
Phoenix Offroad Culture:
- Common ride is Lake Pleasant → Crown King → Back.
- Popular ride for UTVs & full-size off-road rigs.
-
Trail Conditions:
- Dry & rough, more worn than ever due to lack of rain.
- More traffic on this route than before.
- Next plan: Ride back down to Wickenburg for the night.
(13:00) – Morning of Day 3: Wickenburg → Havasu
- Fast-paced ride home.
- Avoiding private property sections before reaching open trails.
-
Terrain:
- Insanely smooth sections (rare for Arizona).
- Wash-bottom trails with sand but no rocks.
-
Excitement Level:
- "It’s crazy how smooth and flowy these trails are—one of the best riding spots in AZ!"
-
Today’s plan:
- Keeping a fast pace.
- Watching for belt issues due to long, hard miles.
- Great group = Minimal mechanical issues so far.
(21:36) – Reaction After Epic Section
-
"That might have been the most fun I’ve ever had on trails in Arizona—maybe ever!"
-
Trail comparison:
- First part reminded him of Mike’s Road in Baja—tight, technical, and high-speed sections.
- Later, even tighter single-track style trails, which felt like riding dirt bike single track but in a UTV.
- Avoiding cholla cactus on tight turns made it extra thrilling.
-
Testing Sliding & Tire Performance:
- RZR Pro R is big & heavy, making it harder to drift.
- Got more aggressive mid-way, pushing the car to its limits.
- Tires: Tensor Regulator 2s @ 17 PSI.
- Performance: Better traction than the previous Tensor DSRs.
- “Might even lower PSI for more grip.”
-
Suspension Review:
- The G-outs on this ride are deceptively harsh.
- Adjusting settings for better handling over bumps.
(24:22) – Final Thoughts
- Encouraging viewers to try this Arizona route.
- Final fast-paced section coming up!
- Wrapping up 400+ miles over three days with minimal issues.
(26:10) – Closing Shots & Music Outro
- [Final drone shots & fast-paced riding footage.]
